Sumitomo Electric successfully developed 400MPa ultra-high strength superconducting wire, bismuth-based high temperature superconducting wire tensile strength increased from the original 250 ~ 270MPa to 400MPa.

It is reported that by using the superconducting wire, wire can withstand greater electromagnetic force, can be used in the previous high-strength wire can not be achieved 20T ultra-high magnetic fields and large magnets.

Compared with the existing copper wire and metal superconducting wire, Sumitomo Electric developed the 400MPa ultra-high strength superconducting wire with high current density to miniaturize all kinds of equipment. In addition, because the superconducting wire possesses the high-dimensional basic properties of the superconducting wire, the accuracy and stability of the magnetic field can be further improved, and the sensitivity of various equipment products can also be improved. At the same time, the diameter of the superconducting wire has been reduced by about 30%. It can be applied to coils with smaller diameters.

Sumitomo Electric Industries uses this wire for sale in the ultra-high-strength superconducting wire "DI-BSCCO Type HT-NX". In addition, the future will also explore the zero-current value of 200A bismuth-based high temperature superconducting wire mass production problems.
