Treatment of mental illness with magnetic pulse: success rate in treating depression is 87.5%

NeuroQore wants to use magnetic pulses to treat mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression.

Most doctors use drugs to treat mental illness, but up to three-thirds of patients fail in the first medication, and 10%-30% are immune to medication. However, NeuroQore (not to confuse NeuroQore with Neurocore, a brain research center funded by Betsy DeVos) is expected to use magnetic pulses instead of drugs for treatment and is ready for preliminary testing.

Neurohore co-founder Mehran Talebinjad told reporters that the success rate of this treatment is 87.5%, which is higher than the treatment with antidepressants.

As early as the mid-1990s, similar brainwave technology has been applied to the treatment of mental illness. The NeuroQore startup is in its very early stages and is undergoing a handful of research.

EEG biofeedback has been used for decades to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and post-traumatic stress disorder. It stimulates a certain part of the brain by sending out a positive signal, mainly for social work industries or clinical trials that are not drug-based.

When a favorable waveform appears, the EEG biofeedback device emits a pleasant tone (positive feedback) that is transmitted to the brain through the patient's ear, thereby extending the favorable waveform and suppressing the unfavorable waveform. This long-term training allows the brain to permanently extend the beneficial waveform itself.
